Dried Banana Slices ( Sun Dry Banana )
First, a confusion worth clearing at the start, because customers mix these up weekly. Banana chips, the crisp round discs sold by the kilo in every bazaar, are fried. These are not chips. Our dried banana slices are sun dried, which is why they are chewy rather than crunchy, darker rather than golden, and taste of banana rather than of oil and salt. At WD Foods they are Rs 625 for 250g, Rs 1,250 for 500g and Rs 2,500 for 1kg, and for comparison, Dry Fruits Mart sells its dried banana at Rs 4,000 a kilo.

An energy food, and proud of it
Dried banana is fuel. Around 340 to 360 calories per 100 grams, most of it natural fruit sugar and carbohydrate, with the potassium bananas are known for still in place after drying. That profile is why the slices travel so well: hikers, gym goers and students on long days carry them because a small handful puts energy back quickly without anything cooked or packaged in plastic and foil. It is also why portion sense applies. A handful is a snack; half a bag is a meal, and should be counted as one. For children, a few slices in the lunchbox beat most of what the canteen sells, and they arrive uneaten far less often than the healthy alternatives parents usually try first.
Ways to use the pack
Eat them as they are, or chop them over morning oats and cereal, where they sweeten the bowl on their own. They bake well into banana bread and muffins, soften nicely in warm milk for small children, and mix happily with nuts and seeds for a trail mix that does not need chocolate to be interesting. If a slice feels too firm straight from the pack, ten minutes in warm water or milk brings it back to soft.
Judging and storing
Colour first: dried banana darkens as it dries, from cream to a deep tan, and brown is normal and expected, not a fault. What you want is a slice that is leathery and bends, with a sweet banana smell. Brittle, snapping slices are over dried or old, and anything that smells fermented should go back. Bananas dried this way carry no oil, so they keep well: airtight, cool and dry is enough, with the fridge as a summer option. The full dried range is in our dried items collection, and all current rates are gathered in the dry fruits price list.
Questions we hear at the counter
What is the dried banana price in Pakistan? At WD Foods, Rs 2,500 for 1kg, Rs 1,250 for 500g and Rs 625 for 250g.
Are these the same as banana chips? No. Chips are sliced thin and fried crisp. These slices are sun dried, so they stay chewy and carry no frying oil.
Are dried bananas good for children? Yes, in sensible amounts. They are sweet because bananas are sweet, so a few slices in a lunchbox is the right scale, not a full bag.
